San Lorenzo al Mare: A Gem of the Ligurian Riviera
San Lorenzo al Mare is a charming village on the Riviera dei Fiori, in the province of Imperia, Liguria. With fewer than a thousand inhabitants, this small seaside town overlooking the Ligurian Sea retains all the authentic charm of maritime villages, featuring a compact historic center, picturesque alleyways, and a stunning waterfront promenade.
Known for its tranquility and well-maintained beaches, the town is also a starting or finishing point for the Riviera dei Fiori Coastal Park cycling path—one of the longest in Europe, running along the old coastal railway route.
San Lorenzo al Mare also boasts a well-equipped tourist marina, restaurants serving traditional Ligurian cuisine, and numerous opportunities for excursions into the hinterland and nearby medieval villages. It is the perfect destination for those seeking relaxation, pristine sea waters, and an authentic connection to Ligurian traditions.

Let’s Run Together Training with IC Pastonchi’s Sports Group in San Lorenzo (February – June 2025)
Starting in February 2025, at the Secondary School of San Lorenzo al Mare, 25 students from the School Sports Group took part in the Let’s Run Together training program. Under the guidance of trainers Roberto Fiorini and Andrea Raimondi from the Pro San Pietro sports association, and with the support of teachers Carlotta Silvestri and Gabriele Martini, students participated in eight athletic training sessions in the gym and two classroom sessions.
During the athletic activities, students had the chance to improve their running techniques and experience different types of training, both indoors and outdoors. Classroom sessions included a meeting with nutritionist Dr. Beschi, who provided guidance on proper nutrition for school days and physical activity, as well as a sports medicine presentation by Dr. Trapani, with educational materials prepared for the students.
Let’s Run Together – San Lorenzo al Mare, May 30
A Day of Sport and Community on the Riviera dei Fiori
On May 30, San Lorenzo al Mare hosted Let’s Run Together, a non-competitive sporting event that transformed the village and its magnificent cycling path into a stage for enthusiasm, movement, and shared experiences.
Designed to combine sports, well-being, and inclusion, the event welcomed people of all ages for an outdoor run/walk between the sea and olive groves, aiming to promote a healthy lifestyle and active community participation.
A Network of Collaborations for Shared Success
The event was made possible thanks to the valuable collaboration between several local organizations:
-
Municipality of San Lorenzo al Mare, promoter and supporter of the initiative
-
Istituto Comprensivo G.P. Pastonchi, with active participation from students and teachers
-
Pro Loco di San Lorenzo al Mare, contributing to organization and hospitality
-
Porta di Valle San Lorenzo, dedicated to enhancing the territory and promoting sustainable tourism
-
A.S.D. Pro San Pietro, a local sports club providing technical and logistical support
This event is a concrete example of how synergy between public institutions, schools, associations, and the sports world can create an engaging experience that unites people, generations, and positive values.

On May 30, 2025, to conclude the months of training, a lively 2 km mini-marathon was held along the scenic track of the Riviera dei Fiori cycling path. The initiative, open not only to students from the School Sports Group of Istituto Comprensivo Pastonchi, but also to their classmates and families, became a festive moment of sport and well-being.
A total of 136 students enthusiastically took on the challenge, demonstrating dedication, sportsmanship, and the willingness to push themselves. To make the day even more exciting, an awards ceremony recognized the top three finishers in each of the four age and gender categories — Cadets, Cadettes, Boys, and Girls — celebrating sporting merit in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
